Treasure Chest: Guy Trades For Tank On eBay, Finds $2.5 Million In Gold Hidden Inside

The Type 59 (Chinese: 59式; pinyin: Wǔ shí jiǔ shì; industrial designation: WZ-120) main battle tank is a Chinese-produced version of the Soviet T-54A tank, the earliest model of the ubiquitous T-54/55 series. The first vehicles were produced in 1958 and it was accepted into service in 1959, with serial production beginning in 1963. Over 10,000 of the tanks were produced by the time production ended in 1980 with approximately 5,500 serving with the Chinese armed forces. The tank formed the backbone of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army until the early 2000s (decade) with an estimated 5,000 of the later Type 59-I and Type 59-II variants in service in 2002.

The Type 59 was modified several times during its service. It was also the basis of several later Chinese tank designs including the Type 69 and Type 79 tanks.

Guy Trades For Tank On eBay, Finds $2.5 Million In Gold Hidden Inside

Posted at 11:53 am on April 9, 2017 by Bob Owens

An English military vehicle collector thought he got quite the deal when he traded a tank and self-propelled gun for a Type-69 tank, a Chinese variant of the T54 developed by the Russians that was sold to Iraq and used in the 1991 Persian Gulf War.

When he examined the tank, he found out just how good of a deal it was; the Iraqi tank crew had apparently looted roughly £2 million ($2,474,600) worth of gold bullion, and had hidden it in a fuel tank. . . . Read Complete Repoirt

MAINZ, Germany – An underground “anomaly” has been discovered in a German town after a filmmaker potentially cracked a code that he believes will lead him to a hidden Nazi treasure.

For decades, a myth has taken root over millions of dollars worth of diamonds and gold bullion, which is rumored to be buried somewhere in Bavaria. Nazi leaders supposedly brought the cache to the “Alpine Fortress” that Heinrich Himmler, head of Adolf Hitler’s dreaded “SS” protection squadron, hoped to erect in southern Germany. . . . Treasure hunter finds 18th century pirate ship off Cape Cod (+) The Prince of Pirates – Black Sam Bellamy

Featured Image: “Map showing the location of the pirate ship Whydah Gally, captained by the famous “Black Sam” Bellamy, which wrecked off the coast of in Cape Cod on April 26, 1717, killing Bellamy and all but 2 of his 145 men, and taking over 4.5 short tons (4.1 tonnes) of gold, silver, and other pirate treasure down with it. Hearing of the shipwreck, then-governor Samuel Shute dispatched Captain Cyprian Southack, a local salvager and cartographer, to recover “Money, Bullion, Treasure, Goods and Merchandizes taken out of the said Ship.”
By May 3, when Southack reached the location of the wreck, he found that a part of the ship was still visible breaching the water’s surface and much of the ship’s wreckage were scattered along more than four miles (6 km) of shoreline. He created this map (Whydah-map.jpg) of the wreck site, and reported that he had buried 102 of the Whydah crew and captives that had washed ashore. They had not found any significant treasure, but he wrote, “The riches and the guns would be buried in the sand.”
The sunken treasure remained little more than a local legend until the wreck was discovered in 1984, the first pirate ship wreck ever discovered in North America”. SOURCE: Wikipedia Commons. (Public Domain).
